Why a percentage of calories is the wrong check
When total energy falls, protein as a percent of calories can look stable while grams per day drop below the amount that stimulates muscle protein synthesis. The useful number is absolute protein: g/day and g/kg.
That is why the card refuses a running calorie total. Calories are not the job. The floor is.
How the working floor sits inside the published band
The published 1.2–1.6 g/kg band moves only with the body weight you enter. Working increments for dual-agonist versus GLP-1, dose phase, and appetite are product start rules. They clamp back into the band. They are not validated individualized medical precision.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro / Zepbound) is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist. Same appetite job. Same published protein band. Same refusal to forecast your muscle.
| Input | What it changes | What it does not change |
|---|---|---|
| Body weight | The 1.2–1.6 g/kg gram range | A DXA or InBody reading |
| Drug class | A labeled increment inside the band | The advisory itself |
| Dose week / appetite | How hard the plate is this week | A clinician protein cap |
| Leucine ~2.5–3 g | Whether one plate clears a hit | The day’s full floor |
What if I cannot finish the plate?
Sip what stays down. Strained yogurt, cottage cheese blended with milk, eggs. One leucine hit still counts when half the solid plate comes back. We do not sell the powder. If you cannot keep food or fluids down, that is the prescribing clinician — not a sip-protocol week in an app.
Questions people ask
- How much protein should I eat on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro?
- The 2025 joint advisory discusses 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day during GLP-1 weight loss. Use a clinician number if you have one. PivotOrder prints a working floor inside that band from weight, drug, dose week, and appetite.
- Should I use actual, adjusted, or ideal body weight?
- That is still debated. The card uses the weight you enter and shows the published band. Your clinician owns the edge.
- Is 2 g/kg better?
- Do not routinely exceed about 2 g/kg without medical advice. More protein is not automatically more muscle, and excess can be stored as fat.
